Culture Therapy is transforming lives
Palliative Care Ward
At Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ's Palliative Care Division, Culture Therapy has been providing meaningful healing moments for patients, their families, and staff. Using Culture Therapy booklets and kapper boards, families have found spaces for connection, healing, and comfort, whether in the outdoor gardens or patient rooms. This approach has also foster stronger connections between staff and patients, creating a more compassionate, supportive environment.
Through activities like yarning, colouring, and sharing stories, families have transformed spaces into a healing, relaxing, and creative environments. These simple yet powerful activities have helped create cherished memories during challenging times.
The Culture Therapy booklets, have provided adults the chance to engage in deep, meaningful conversations, while children enjoy creative Cultural Therapy activities. This shared time has been described as priceless and fostering calmness and understanding among all involved.
Culture Therapy is bringing peace, connection, and healing precisely when it is needed most.

Staff experiences
Titta Gigante, an Identified LE Advanced Peer Worker in the Mental Health and Specialist Services Emergency Department at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ shared her transformation after experiencing during a Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ event:
"It was incredibly relaxing. The sound waves provided a healing and calmness over my body. I was able to be present in the moment and truly connect within. It was a profound experience that allowed me to reconnect with myself and with Country. I truly recommend this for everyone."
Through initiatives like these, Culture Therapy continues to offer opportunities for individuals to pause, heal, and reconnect, fostering wellbeing and a deeper sense of cultural and personal connection.

Family and workplace?
Inspired by her experience of Culture Therapy at work, Sarah introduced cultural practices into her home. She invited her children to learn traditional weaving techniques and engage in Art of Colour activities. This not only strengthened their family bond but also deepened her children's appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
