Conference Presentation Attendance

Gold Coast health employees who have been invited to deliver an oral presentation (10 minutes or more) at a conference, may be eligible for a maximum stipend of $5000 to assist with costs of conference registration and travel (where applicable).

Funding is awarded as part of the Study, Education, Research Trust Account (SERTA) scheme where operational funds or other resources are unavailable to the applicant.

What you need to know

The Study, Education and Research Trust Account (SERTA) Committee will assess funding applications based on the key criteria:

  1. You will be asked to complete an online application form including a summary (no more than 500 words) outlining the request, which demonstrates the benefit and alignment to our strategic goals.
  2. Evidence to support your submission including:
    • Invitation to present at a conference. Please note, you must be delivering an oral presentation of 10 minutes or more to be eligible for this category. 
    • Conference flyer detailing fees and costs and link to conference website.
    • Professional Development Allowance (PDA) form (if applicable). Please note, PDA will be deducted from the total approved balance. 
    • Quotes for accommodation, flights (if applicable). All Travel and accommodation must be booked through the divisional travel coordinator. If the application is approved, the SERTA coordinator will assist with the travel booking. 
    • Overseas Travel form and evidence of Ministerial or DG approval application or copy of approval letter (if applicable). Please allow a minimum of 8 weeks for the Ministerial application process to be completed.

The  tool to assist in choosing the right conference to attend and present your research, is an international initiative introduced by Knowledge E. The tool aims to guide and assist researchers and scholars to make strategic decisions when judging the legitimacy and quality of conferences to attend and present.
