Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Executive Director Strategy, Transformation and Major Capital, Sandip Kumar, with Lyrebird Health Founder Kai Van Lieshout.

An artificial intelligence (AI)-powered virtual scribe being trialled at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ outpatient departments could save clinicians critical time while allowing them to focus on patients rather than paperwork.

The ¡®ambient listening¡¯ solution, developed by Australian start-up Lyrebird Health, combines voice-to-text technology with artificial intelligence to automate note taking and production of several types of clinical documents.

More than 70 Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ medical specialists are taking part in Stage 1 of the 16-week clinical trial, which will use mixed methods to evaluate the product.

Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Executive Director of Strategy, Transformation and Major Capital, Sandip Kumar, said the objective of Stage 1 is to validate the technology with a view to making it more widely available in future.

¡°We are delighted to partner with Lyrebird Health on this innovative clinical trial that has the potential to transform health systems, allowing clinicians to focus on engaging with the patient during consultations and reinvest their time back into person-centred care,¡± he said.

¡°Our innovative patient care ecosystem is going from strength to strength¡ªthis is another example of how the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ culture of innovation is delivering results as part of our Future Focus transformation agenda.¡±

With the global adoption of AI in healthcare increasing rapidly, Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ is a leader in digital innovation, committed to delivering better health outcomes for patients.
